fight. flight. freeze.
Anger is either fully fledged rage or short term annoyance and is completely normal. When it gets out of control it can be destructive and make a person a threat. Violent incidents go through four basic stages. Frustration, Anger, Aggression, Violence. Knowing when and where to step in or not is the key to any decent Self - Defence system we at SJA would like to help.
Our newsletter is is freely available to everyone that signs up to it today, our read some of our blog entries.
Physical AGGRESSION
Frustration can be caused by a person, an event, personal problems that we worry about. We respond to anger aggressively as it provokes feelings which allow us to fight and defend ourselves when we are attacked. However we cannot attack every person who annoys us, laws stop that, or they should do.
triggers
A trigger is anything which may push a frustrated person into anger, aggression or violence. This makes the angry person difficult to deal with as the rational mind is replaced by the emotional mind. People have different trigger points from driving a car (road rage) to being ignored whist trying to order drinks at a bar.
inhibitors
Our inhibitors work most of the time to prevent people becoming aggressive or violent. This is of course the opposite to triggers However the use of drugs, alcohol or mental illness can either reduce or remove these inhibitors. Being part of a group can reduce the effect of inhibition on the individual as can the environment.
