Wolverhampton Street Jiu Jitsu Association we take our martial arts to a new level of training, we have no rules when it comes to protecting our students well-being. We have expert instructors for all fields of martial arts ranging from, Combat Jiu Jitsu, Combat Judo, Aikido, Aiki-Jujutsu, Thai Kickboxing, Taiho Jutsu.


The word Aikido Means way or to (Do) of harmany (Ai) of mental energy (KI) .

It is a defensive martial way developed by  O- Sensei Morihei Ueshiba  the Aikido Kaiso (founder) born (1883) in Tanabe southern Japan died (1969).

In addition to being the leading martial artist of his day, master Ueshiba was also a very spiritual man, and hoped as well as being an effective martial art Aikido would develop better people and hence a better society!

Aikido uses skills and timings (pre emtive strikes) to control an attacker, teaching students to maximise their potential power with circular movements. It does not need great strength so is suitable for both men and women, off all ages. While those with strength will have it channelled to even better effect on their attacker. Many of Aikido’s techniques were originally developed to defend against sword or other weapons, Aikido today is still very effective against weapons of today.

Aikido practise is cooperative and not competitive, allowing students to develop knowledge and skills at their own pace. Progression through the grades is through a coloured belt systerm and continuous assessment by the instructor till the student meets the correct grade.

We want to teach you our modern method of Self-Defence.

This is a modern, but effective method of protecting yourself from an attacker has been put together by real people not special forces or elite fighters from army backgrounds.

We have serving police and army personnel who assisted in formulating our system, but it has come from honest down to earth, normal everyday folk.

It is 90% from the mother of all arts Jiu Jitsu, Aiki-Jutsu and is a feudal fighting art that was taken to the battlefield of Japan and use in unarmed combat against  their enemies, when they were dismounted from their horses during fighting.

How we manage the symptoms of stress through Jiu Jitsu And Aikido

In your brain,the hypothalamus gets the ball rolling,telling your adrenal glands to release the stress hormones adrenaline and cortisol.

These hormones rev up your heatbeat and send blood rushing to areas that need it most in an emergency,such as your muscles,heart and other important organs.

So you can see where and why the panic sets in when confronted by an attacker or violent encounter.

Street Jujitsu Association Training now exists to addresses Fear and the effects it has by training in a effective skill base workshops, showing how to cope with stress within a self-defence situation and putting our learners through scenario based test to help react to violent encounters on the street.

We have regular weekend sessions for those of us with not quite enough time and definitely not enough freedom or energy.
